This Wrestlemania was pretty alright. It’s hard to describe it but I know it doesn’t come in comparison to the past Wrestlemanias, especially Wrestlemania 30. We finally didn’t have Cena in the match cards which to some is a good thing however to others it may be a bad thing- considering that giant PG fan base. Basically to me the thing as a whole was up to par however the ending really just made it worse in a way.
The pre-show was definitely not as good as the previous predecessor, 31. They moved the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal match into the upper cards of the event. Ryback with that new Goldberg look aka Ryberg aka Goldback lost to Kalisto for the US title match. I don’t think many people would of cared much as if many fans or if anyone remembers him as the Intercontinental title. The ‘less important’ Divas match between a mess of divas which I still don’t remember the whole teams ended up with Brie Bella’s team winning and her getting her moment before her ‘semi-retirement’. Then they had a tag team match between the Usos and the Dudleys as the last pre-show match. Usos won of course as the Dudleys are being super lowered in these sort of squash matches. I saw this as another match to feed the audience to get the stadium filled up. Did you notice how empty it was when they started the US title match?
The Ladder match went totally unpredicted for me as they put over Zack. I thought it was either going to be retained by Owens or given to Sami since he is moving up to Raw after that loss to Nakamura. It’s a good thing though as they kept him buried for years. However he lost it to The Miz the Raw after. Good feud though in my opinion as The Miz was so put over years ago and recently all they’ve been doing was burying him. After that was the League of Nations against the New Day that came out with one of the best entrances ever. Weird how this wasn’t a tag title match. I expected the match between AJ and Jericho would end their feud here but it seems they cross paths still recently. Either of them could of won and we’d still be happy as they are both great performers especially after watching them at Fastlane.
Lesnar’s match with Ambrose ended up the way I expected it to. I know they want to make the Best unstoppable but I could of seen this match ending a bit longer. What happened to that wagon Ambrose was rollin’ around? That would of been nice seeing him drag a bunch of items down the ramp. The new Women’s Championship ended with Charlotte as champ again. I knew it was either going to be Banks or Charlotte. But Flair’s at the ringside so you know some foul play was going to happen. This would of been a defining moment for Banks to win this new returning and redesigned Women’s title at the biggest pay-per view.
Shane’s match ended up the way I expected with them giving it to Taker. Well it gave us another Wrestlemania moment to be in so many montages. Seemed kind of pointless as Shane got control of Raw the next night and the next again. The Lone Wolf from NXT won the Memorial Battle Royal which I thought was kind of fitting. I mean they could’ve gave it to Kane but it seems like they don’t care about him as much anymore. He’s been played down so much.
The Rock came out and fought the Wyatts. He beat Rowan in 6 seconds with the Rock Bottom. Seriously they don’t seem as threatening anymore- only Bray...for now. But look who came out to continue his Wrestlemania appearances, the one and only John Cena to help the Rock who he faced years ago. Now with the main event, it came out so weak compared to the other matches. Ruined the night in my opinion as so many people didn’t want Reigns to win. Definitely the most underwhelming match of the pay-per view.
